You decide to choose the miners. They demand to be paid in advance, stating they have debts that must be paid. It is likely they had such a low price and could do the job quickly because they needed money right away. Saving time and money appeals to you, so you pay the miners in advance.
Two weeks go by and you are concerned with their progress. The miners say they left special tools in the Hat Creek area that would help them finish the project. You let them to get their tools so that they can complete the roadhouse. A few weeks go by and there is no sight of the two miners. A packer staying at your ranch house one night said he spoke with two miners bragging how they swindled someone in a building deal. This is a sad state of affairs, because you lost $100 and the miners damaged some of the materials while attempting to build the roadhouse.
Now you'll have to 'whipsaw' more logs. Once you finish that, you end up hiring that team that had recommendations to build your roadhouse.
